How to Clean the Drain Pump Filter

1. Locate the small square access panel on the bottom front right corner of your washing machine.
2. Open the panel and place a shallow tray or a thick towel on the floor to catch the residual water that will flow out.
3. Slowly unscrew the circular drain filter cap counter-clockwise. Allow the water to drain completely into your tray.
4. Once the water stops, remove the filter entirely and rinse it under a tap to remove lint, coins, hairpins, or debris.
5. Inspect the pump impeller inside the housing to ensure it spins freely and is not obstructed by foreign objects.
6. Reinsert the filter, tighten it firmly clockwise, and close the access panel before running a test cycle.

Safe Steps to Try Before Calling a Technician

1. Check the drain hose behind the machine to ensure it is not kinked, bent, or crushed against the wall.
2. Verify that the drain hose is not inserted too deeply into the standpipe, which can create a siphon effect.
3. Ensure the height of the drain hose is between 60cm and 90cm from the floor; if it is too low or too high, the pump may struggle.
4. Run a 'Spin Only' cycle to see if the pump engages after the filter has been cleared.
